Vikings Hire New Running Backs Coach

EDEN PRAIRIE (WCCO) -- Leslie Frazier has made an addition to the Vikings coaching staff, picking James Saxon as running backs coach from the Miami Dolphins.

Saxon brings 11 years of NFL coaching experience to the Vikings and has guided eight players over the past 10 years to the Pro Bowl. He will be now be coaching Adrian Peterson, who has made it to the Pro Bowl five times, which is every year since his rookie season.

Saxon is taking the position once held by Eric Bieniemy, who went on to be the offensive coordinator of Colorado State.

The addition is expected to be the last major hire for the coaching staff.

Saxon was a sixth-round selection by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1988 and went on to play eight seasons as a running back with the Chiefs, Dolphins and Eagles. He played in 111 career games.
