St. Paul Man Charged In Hastings Armed Robbery

HASTINGS (WCCO) -- A 38-year-old St. Paul man has been charged Tuesday in connection with the Jan. 20, 2011 armed robbery of the AmericInn Hotel in Hastings, according to the Dakota County Attorney's Office.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that William Joseph Boldt was charged with two felony counts of first-degree aggravated robbery and first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery.

According to the criminal complaint, Boldt admitted to robbing the inn, located on the 2400 block of Vermillion Street, with another man. One of the men had a gun.

The two men allegedly ordered the clerk, who was setting up breakfast, to give them the keys for the front office area, where they stole $300. They also stole the clerk's purse, the complaint said.

If convicted of all charges, Boldt faces a maximum of 40 years in prison and/or a maximum $70,000 fine.
