Mpls. Police Squad Involved In Accident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police are now trying to reconstruct an accident involving a Minneapolis squad car that happened on Saturday morning.

Minneapolis Sgt. Bill Palmer originally told WCCO that a Minneapolis officer was t-boned in a squad car in an accident that happened around 10 a.m. at 35th Street and 3rd Avenue South.

He said another vehicle ran a red light and hit the squad.

It was later reported that K9 Officer Eric Bullen, was in the vehicle with the police dog in the back seat. Bullen said he had the green light and struck another vehicle going west on 35th St.

Bullen was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with back and neck pain. He was treated and released.

The driver of the other vehicle wasn't injured.

The police dog was taken to a local vet to get checked out, but it appears he wasn't injured.

Investigators will be reconstructing the scene to see who was at fault.

Bullen has been with the MPD since September 1995.
