Former Gov. Candidate Blasts Gov. Dayton Over Budget Plan

By Susie Jones, NewsRadio 830 WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Former Minnesota gubernatorial candidate for the Republican Party, Tom Emmer, says the governor needs to get off the "tax the rich" bandwagon and work with the legislature.

"You've got a legislature that frankly has done its best to try to work with him. They put out an offer, which I believe is a best, first, and last compromise offer," he said.

Emmer told WCCO's John Williams that he wrote an op-ed piece in the Star Tribune to encourage those involved to get past partisan rhetoric and solve the budget deficit.

Emmer praised New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a democrat, who said that the old way of solving the problem was to continue to raise taxes on people and that just can't be done anymore.

The Governor's office had no comment.
