HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) — Hastings High School has canceled its spring musical after a drama club party got out of control.

The district isn’t saying exactly what happened at drama club get-together in late March. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports there were no drugs or alcohol and no bullying involved.

Superintendent Tim Collins says about three dozen students attended the Saturday night gathering at a drama club member’s home. No school staff members were present.

Hastings Police Chief Paul Schnell says school staff briefed the resource officer about allegations of possible hazing, but nothing rose to a criminal level.

Drama club officers did not respond to Pioneer Press messages seeking comment.

“The Pirates of Penzance” was to run later this month.

The world has come down to a sad sad situation. You can’t eat, drink, walk, drive or fart without someone making a big deal out of it. Cancel a musical and there was NO drugs and NO beer involved??? Why again is is cancelled?

This is so wrong….there are so many of the students who worked hard on this!!! There hearts are broken…they are suffering for the acts of others…those that you choose not to discipline. Apparently they are to good for that, but they are mean and hateful to others….We were told long ago that are students that were hazing, bullying would be punished the same, and yet here you are showing favoritism towards the uppity people …what king of message are you sending..For sure the wrong one! Mr Collins, you are just as guilty as the students that did the wrong!!! Shame on you!!!

^^^^some of the leaders of tomorrow preparing themselves for a life of opportunities that could have been. The short sighted vision of youth causes you to do and get involved in things that have long term consequences, I hope those who were involved find some better things to build their life on.

So what’s all of the “drama” about then? Funny how everyone is always complaining about too much government in their lives but it’s OK for the school districts to monitor non-school activities. I’m thinking they should spend some of this time, effort and resources on TEACHING the kids instead of spying on them.

Collins is upset he was not invited to the orgy so he did the only thing he could do.

No Bullying, but there was hazing?

This is the Drama Club, to many Releves and Plies?

  13. Phil Mcrackin says:

Just how would a drama club’s hazing go? Would the hazee be subjected to bad acting? Drama queens?

    1. KFC and lots of thighs says:

Drag Queens and doing the dirty with fair at a crack (no pun intended)

      1. To KFC and ... says:

“and how would you like your thighs? Spicy or regular? Would you like dark meat or white meat? Crunchy or the old fashioned softer style?
I’m sorry but all of our samplings have legs and thighs. No, we do not specialize in amputees. Sorry”

  14. Ron B. says:

Ii don’t know the details but if school staff weren’t there and it wasn’t an official school event or activity why is the school even getting involved. It appears to be a civil act at best and if any laws were broken then the local police should be envolved not the school. The parents, and if if required, the police should be the ones envolved not the school. The problem is probably since so many people are so sue happy that the school is paranoid.
