— From the Wild to the Vikings to the Gophers, it’s all part of this week’s Mike Max’s news and notes.


If the Minnesota Wild were in the playoffs, the profit for home games at the Xcel Center would be in the range of $1 million per game.


Members of the Timberwolves staff have visited the Vikings to find out more about how they work the draft.


Kevin Love is considered the leading candidate for the NBA’s most improved player award.


The Golden Gophers have not given up on bringing back Colton Iverson, who has visited Colorado State and the University of California, with Colorado seen as the leading candidate.


Trevor Mbakwe is fairly certain he’s coming back, but could still put his name of draft candidates this week as a way to gauge his status. He’s working with a trainer on developing a 15-foot jump shot.


Former Twins Al Newman is a scout for the Baltimore Orioles.

Wayzata’s Mario Lucia will probably be traded from Sioux Falls to Omaha in the USHL.


Bloomington Jefferson’s Marcus Alipate is considering walking on for the Gophers football and basketball teams.
