Macalester Baseball Team May Win First Title In 50 Years
ST.PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) –- The Macalester baseball team has played competitively for a while, and it looks to hold on to its first place position in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this weekend.
Heading into the finals, the team has come with a veteran coach and some talented student athletes. It hopes to win its first title since 1950.
"It would mean a lot on campus, and I think it would mean a lot more to the guys on the team," said Robert Williams, a Macalester student.
Matt Parrington, the team's coach, composed it out of players who love the game and are passionate about practicing.
"I just love baseball in general," Parrington said. "These guys know practice is my thing. I just love practice and I've been able to recruit a group of guys that enjoys that."
The team's season has already been defined as a success. They've already qualified for the post-season tournament.
