Threatening Storms Pass Over Northern Metro Area

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The National Weather Service issued a slew of tornado warnings as a line of severe storms moved through the northern Twin Cities area.

The weather service says trained spotters reported a brief tornado touchdown near the north-central Hennepin County suburb of Medina just after 6:30 p.m. There was no official confirmation.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or serious damage from any of the storms, but heavy rain and large hail were reported as the skies turned ominous over parts of Hennepin, Anoka and other counties, generating numerous reports of threatening-looking wall clouds.
