MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Hundreds more families will be saying farewell to their loved ones Friday as more National Guard members deploy.

It part of the second largest deployment for Minnesota guard members since World War II.

Soldiers from the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division have been deploying since May.

At 11 a.m. Friday, soldiers based in Rosemount, Minn. took part in a deployment ceremony.

At 6 p.m., soldiers stationed at Camp Ripley will have their ceremony.

Guard members will be stationed in Kuwait.

While overseas, the troops will provide security and transportation for supplies and other soldiers as part of Operation New Dawn.

    I thought that we were supposed to be pulling troop out of there? so why do we keep sending more over? Good luck to all those you are going and hope you all stay safe, your families will miss you very much

    Keep them home. We need them here. More storms are coming.
    we need to keep our tax dollars here and keep our Guard Home.
    I wish they would refuse to go. Enough is enough
    many shouldn’t go anyhow but they would never admit to that.
    they are too courageous and dedicated. We have to stand and speak out for them.
