Xcel: Monticello Nuclear Plant At Full Power
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant returned to operating at full power Friday after days of testing following last month's maintenance outage.
During the outage, approximately 2,000 contractors helped plant operators complete maintenance work and prepare the plant for its next operating cycle, Xcel Energy said.
Along with doing maintenance, workers also tied two high-voltage transmission lines to the plant as part of a transmission line project between Monticello, Minn., and Fargo, N.D.
The Monticello generates enough electricity to power 500,000 homes.
