Police: Stand-Off At St. Paul Apartment Complex

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) –- A stand-off occurred Saturday afternoon between police and a seemingly suicidal man who barricaded himself in a St. Paul apartment complex.

Police responded to an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Woodbridge St. at around 2 p.m. after a family member wrestled a gun from a man whom police said was suicidal.

The man had threatened to kill himself and his family.

After losing the gun, the man ran into the apartment complex and barricaded himself in. The complex was evacuated, and the man got onto the roof, where he stayed for about two hours.

It is not known if the man possessed any weapons while in the complex, but police made a perimeter around it that included a SWAT team, k-9 units and a helicopter.

Police negotiated with the man for about two hours before he gave himself up.

At around 5 p.m. police gained control of the man and arrested him. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

Police then searched the complex looking for anything the man may have left.

Police are investigating the incident.
