Hot Weather, Hot Business

COON RAPIDS (WCCO)
-- For some in Minnesota, hot weather means hot business.

All day Tuesday, blazing heat in the triple digits sent many searching for relief. The Bunker Beach Water Park in Coon Rapids was one of those locations, and it was packed Tuesday night.

To beat the heat, thousands made their way to the wave pool, water slides and the Lazy River loop -- anything to catch a break from the sun.

"We had 2,500 people in here (on Monday)," said Bunker Hills Park and Poll manager Cory Hinz.

The water park was on track again Tuesday to have another record day.

"After the winter we had, we'll take this all day long," said Scott Summerville.

Hot temperatures also made for hot business indoors. Large crowds made their way to the Mall of America to take advantage of the cool air.

"This is a good place to be indoors," said one mall walker.

"Still have lots of fun but stay inside, "said another mall walker.

Cooling off and spending cash.

The mall is just one place benefiting financially from the heat. Theaters were also packed and making more of a profit -- all because of the heat.
