Minnesota Man Rescued From Mississippi River

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- A Minnesota man was rescued from the Mississippi River in La Crosse.

Police say the 39-year-old Rushford, Minn., man had been drinking before he was found in the river in front of the Marriott Courtyard Saturday night.

A private boater helped police rescue the man. The La Crosse Tribune says police did not immediately release the man's blood alcohol content.

At least nine intoxicated men have drowned in the Mississippi and La Crosse area rivers since 1997.
