2 Charged In Apple Valley Pot Bust

APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – The Dakota County Attorney's Office said Friday that two people have been charged in connection with a large marijuana bust in Apple Valley on Thursday.

Geraldo Sanchez Ramos, 34 of Apple Valley, and Yesenia Ponce-Carbajal, 26 of Apple Valley were both charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Both are Mexican citizens but live in Apple Valley and were arrested Wednesday after authorities found 77 pounds of marijuana in their car and residence valued at close to $77,000.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said it's one of the larger marijuana seizures in recent memory. Police also seized more than $37,000 in cash. Both are in the Dakota County Jail.
