The Good Life For Less: Keeping Kids Busy On The Cheap

Now that we've passed the summer break mid-way mark -- the July 4th holiday -- you may be looking for things to keep your kids occupied until school starts.

Through the rest of this week I'll be giving you some less expensive ways to do the activities and see the landmarks that keep people excited to be in Minnesota.

Here are a few suggestions today:

Bowling Pass At AMF - All summer long you can get deals to go bowling. AMF has a program where kids (ages 16 and under) can bowl for free -- you just need to register them in advance. Want to bowl too? They sell a summer pass for $27.95 that lets four adults (one registrant and three guests) bowl all summer long. Click here for more details on both programs.

• If you are interested in having a whirlwind of a staycation you may want to pick up The Big Ticket -- a pass that sells for $79 Adults (13+) and $69 Children (3-12). It can get you into six popular attractions anytime over the course of three days.

The ticket includes: Nickelodeon Universe, SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium and Water Park of America -- all at or near the Mall of America. There is also the Minnesota Zoo and IMAX Theatre (located right outside the zoo) and the Science Museum included in the Big Ticket. Click here for details.

BONUS: Here's a coupon book to give you additional discounts near the Mall of America area (including $4 off an adult "Big Ticket" purchase).

Como Town and the Como Zoo are staying open until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 11 for their community night. They are even offering half-priced unlimited ride wristbands that night from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Regular price $13.95) The zoo is always free, but donations are welcome!

Stay tuned for more ideas for kids later this week!

If  you know of any summer deals, share them with other 'Good Lifers' in the comment section and they may be featured in an upcoming blog. You can also read more money-saving blog posts here and text WCCODEALS to 84816 for a 'deals of the week' reminder.
