Man Found Face Down, Rescued From Lake Elmo

LAKE ELMO, Minn. (WCCO) -- A man is recovering at Regions Hospital after friends he was swimming with found him floating on Lake Elmo early Saturday morning. 

The Washington County Sheriff's office received a 911 call at about 3:09 a.m. from someone saying he had just pulled his friend from the water.  It happened in the 2000 block ofLake Elmo Ave.

"They found him face down in about 2 feet of water," said Sergeant Mike Benson with Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Benson said deputies arrived quickly and were able to revive him.

"Three of our deputies arrived within a minute and were able to start rescue breathing," said Benson.

He then began breathing on his own. He was taken toRegions HospitalinSt. Paul. Authorities said his condition is critical but stable.

The man's name has not been released, but deputies did say he's 31 years old and from Bloomington.

Benson said the man and his friends were swimming on the shore. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor.

"The actual cause of the incident is still under investigation," said Benson.
