MORRIS, Minn. (AP) — Two rural Minnesota brothers have been charged in the death of their mother, whose remains were found last week buried in the backyard of her home in Alberta in west-central Minnesota.

The Forum for Fargo-Moorhead reports 17-year-old Jacob Seth Cobb was charged Monday in Stevens County District Court with second-degree intentional murder.

Eighteen-year-old Andrew Quinton Cobb has been charged as an accessory after the fact to murder. Stevens County Sheriff Randy Willis says a third brother is in custody but has not been charged.

That brother told authorities in May that he saw his brother, Jacob, put a plastic bag over their mother’s head and a belt around her neck.

Andrew Cobb stated that he witnessed the alleged incident and that in the spring he helped the third brother bury their mother under a shed.

  7. morris girl says:

I personally know these brothers… in shock….i don’t think the older brothers are letting jake take the blame…i think the brothers tried to save their brothers ass though. It’s just crazy what people are capable of….

  8. dave says:

it seems that only one brother is doing all the talking so far. What is the other brother’s take on what happened?

  9. dave says:

can they still check for drugs in a corpse that has died more than 7 months ago?

    1. Ogie Oglethorpe says:

Where are you coming up with the 7+ month timeframe?

  10. dave says:

cant they give lie detector tests to all 3 brothers? or doesnt stevens country not have that capability?

    1. em0886 says:

they can but it’s not admissable in court

  11. dave says:

I dont think Jacob did it.

  12. dave says:

what is all this transporting of the dead body everywhere? First to South Dakota and then to Glenwood. If they were afraid of drugs being found in the body they would have destroy the body for sure…maybe that is why they decided they could not just dump the body in a ditch somewhere but had to burn it but they couldnt go thru with it since it was their mom…I surely couldnt do it. I think they had to cover up the death as being a drug overdose so as not to implicate others.

Hummmm; so much could be said about this. Unfortunately, we will never know what really happened, but I’m sure it wasn’t for the insurance money.

  14. dave says:

the guilty party always does most of the talking……I think dylan did it. He was the one who was going to burn her body in Glenwood
I dont think we know the whole story yet.

  15. dave says:

But then…thats what a trial will be for and of course at the expense of Stevens County.

  16. Gloria says:

I’m confused; has there been a previous report of this story? Posters seems to know a lot of details, but I hadn’t heard about this before.

  17. morris girl says:

there are a lot of articles surfacing right now with different amounts of information. i have heard the south dakota and glenwood story about the body as well. if you want pretty decent information go to the website. that is where the trial will be and will have right away information. they had information about the cobbs before anyone had heard there were suspects involved. the one who is talking was already in trouble with the law and im sure is being pursaided with plea bargains to talk.

  18. District Atty. says:

Age doesn’t matter. At 17 he can and likely will be tried as an adult.

    1. morris girl says:

agreed. with murder…things are looked at very differently….especially hwo this situation played out!

this reminds me of a creepy lifetime movie!

  19. Gloria says:

Thank you, morris girl, for the information. I will check that website out.

  20. Bill from Morris says:

If he/she works there, then that is the agency that brings them to court. Anyone who works there can testify his behavior. So It would be pointless for him to go to court since their whole detention facility already knows everything about the case and forwards it to the investigators. It seems like he is admitting to all the charges so it doesn’t matter anyway which information is released.

  21. Bill from Morris says:

That is exactly what the newspaper article from up in your area is saying. That it was over a game of yahtzee. I agree with the 1st degree. Either way he is seeing life as you said.
