MN Tribe Lends $20M To Neb. Tribe For Casino Upgrade
NIOBRARA, Neb. (AP) -- An Indian tribe in Minnesota is loaning $20 million to the Santee Sioux Tribe to pay for improvements to its casino in northeast Nebraska.
The Santee Sioux Tribe plans to use the money to build a new 25,000-square-foot Ohiya Casino and a new 50-room hotel east of Niobrara. A new golf course would also be built as part of the project.
The loan comes from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, which operates Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minn., has other enterprises and runs a charitable giving program.
