Minn. Man Accused Of Making Fake Postage Stamps

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A federal indictment alleges a Minnesota man manufactured counterfeit postage meter stamps.

Thirty-one-year-old Andre George Mehilove is charged with one count of manufacturing counterfeit postage stamps. The indictment was unsealed Tuesday after Mehilove's initial appearance in federal court.

The indictment alleges that between August 2006 and April 2009, Mehilove produced and copied the stamps on his computer from other postage meter stamps he bought online. On April 3, 2009, authorities executed a search warrant at Mehilove's home and place of employment and seized computers, items with counterfeit postages, PayPal identity devices and online postage labels.

A phone message left Wednesday evening for an attorney in the federal public defender's office was not immediately returned.
