MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) — A police chief in a small western Wisconsin village is facing nine felonies after being accused of sexually molesting two teenage boys.

The Leader-Telegram reports Wheeler police chief Gary Wayerski is on administrative leave.

According to a criminal complaint filed Thursday, Wayerski was mentoring a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old after arresting them in March for breaking into a church in Wheeler, which has about 300 people.

The complaint says the boys claimed Wayerski showed them pornographic movies and computer images and fondled them individually and together.

If convicted, Wayerski could face up to 79 1/2 years in jail and $270,000 in fines.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 9.

His lawyer, Peter Morin, couldn’t be immediately reached for comment Saturday.

Pretty sure if convicted of these crimes he will not be liked much in prison; prisoners don’t take kindly to child molestors…much less a chief of police doing things like this….the boys in the big house will definitely have him targetted!!

When I was 16 or 17, I can assure you that if I was in the company of an adult and they loaded up a gay porno flick, I would have been out of Dodge before the wily coyote would have blinked. What in the name of goodness would have compelled these kids to stay in his control and not report it immediately to their parents makes this one very odd and suspicious story.

    1. insignificant says:

yeah…gotta agree with Mike there…something is not right ,here

Fear. Police officer, what do you think? Classic case of power abuse as well.

  5. Joke says:

Wheeler is a tiny speck of a town, why do they even have a Chief, or muchless a police force, county patrols is how you police 300 population towns.

  6. Serpico says:

The police are no different than the general public.

Accept they can shoot people and get away with it.

  7. Jackie says:

Thanks for making a good point Mike. I have no idea if the Chief in this situation did or didn’t do what he is being accused of. But whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Just because a couple of teenage kids accused him of this doesn’t mean it’s true. False accusations are made all the time. And lets not forget, teenagers (not all of them) are really good at coming up with lies to cover for themselves and get out of trouble. Before we condemn anyone accused of such a serious crime, lets make sure we have all the facts.

  8. just sayin says:

Regardless if he is actually guilty – isn’t 79.5 years a little harsh?
The black man murders, and gets off in 17… wow are thing backwards.
