Wis. Police Chief Accused Of Molesting 2 Teen Boys

MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) -- A police chief in a small western Wisconsin village is facing nine felonies after being accused of sexually molesting two teenage boys.

The Leader-Telegram reports Wheeler police chief Gary Wayerski is on administrative leave.

According to a criminal complaint filed Thursday, Wayerski was mentoring a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old after arresting them in March for breaking into a church in Wheeler, which has about 300 people.

The complaint says the boys claimed Wayerski showed them pornographic movies and computer images and fondled them individually and together.

If convicted, Wayerski could face up to 79 1/2 years in jail and $270,000 in fines.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 9.

His lawyer, Peter Morin, couldn't be immediately reached for comment Saturday.
