Van Collides With Metro Transit Train

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- A van collided with a Metro Transit light-rail train headed to the Mall of America Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at 12:45 p.m. after the train had just left the Hubert Humphrey Terminal southbound.

A van was also traveling south when it neared 34th street north of the 494 bridge and crashed after making what investigators said was a prohibited left turn.

Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland said trains are up and running but passengers should still expect delays. At this point all the trains are running on one track.

"The last thing I heard, the train has picked up passengers and is back in service," said Siqveland.

Metro Transit Police are on the scene investigating the incident. No one inside the train and no one in the van suffered injuries.
