WINONA, Minn. (AP) — The Winona County sheriff’s officials say a body has been discovered in the Mississippi River south of Winona.

Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude tells Winona Radio News the body of a female was found under a pontoon boat at the Pay-Mor Campground along Highway 61 Sunday afternoon.

Ganrude said the Winona County Dive Rescue-Team was called to the scene. He says it appears the body had been in the water for some time.

No mention if foul play is suspected. Wonder if it was a boating accident or murder and hidden body?

Probably won’t turn out to be natural causes… 😉

Body in the water for some time??? 5 seconds is some time. 2 years is some time. How much time to they suspect?

Is there REALLY a campground called PAY MOR? Who would come to a business called PAY MOR? Is it, by any chance, PLAY MOR? Just wondering. It’s NOT an important detail in this tragedy, but couldn’t help notice…

Let them conduct an autopsy for pete’s sake. I’m sure there will be more info in a few days…..reporters tend to guess as much as possible without getting any facts incorrect, or try too anyway.

Who is missing? But this time of year it could easily be someone from a different state who came here vacationing.
