Dayton Orders Flags Lowered For Slain Navy SEAL

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Dayton is ordering that the flags be lowered at state and federal buildings in remembrance of a Navy SEAL from Minnesota who was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

He's 24-year-old Nicholas Spehar of Chisago City. He was among 30 U.S. troops killed when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan on Aug. 6.

Dayton ordered the state and U.S. flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Friday. The governor's proclamation says Spehar's funeral will also be Friday.
