Woman, 75, Fatally Burned In Grease Fire

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 75-year-old St. Paul woman has died from injuries sustained in a grease fire Friday night, authorities said.

Willie M. Coleman was pronounced dead at about 9 p.m. Friday at Regions Hospital. Fire crews responded to the report of the fire at about 5:47 p.m. on the 500 block of Humboldt Avenue South.

Authorities said she had been severely burned when a pan of grease started on fire in her kitchen. She tried to move the flaming pot when her clothing caught fire, causing severe burns to her upper torso.

She was rushed to the hospital. Authorities said there was no damage to her apartment and it did not have a sprinkler system.
