Illinois Woman Dies In Minnesota Crash

COOK, Minn. (AP) -- An Illinois woman died and a Minnesota woman was critically injured in a head-on crash in northeastern Minnesota.

The State Patrol says 81-year-old Antoinette Lincoln, of Romeoville, Ill., was riding in a car driven by 86-year-old Donald Shee, of Downers Grove, Ill. Lincoln died while Shee suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second car, 54-year-old Joanne Knutson, of Cook, was taken to a Duluth hospital in critical condition. She was in serious condition Sunday.

The Patrol says Donald Shee was southbound Saturday afternoon on Highway 53 north of Cook when his car crossed over the northbound lane onto the northbound shoulder. Knutson, who was northbound, drove onto the shoulder to try to avoid the crash, but both vehicles collided head on.

The Patrol says alcohol was not a factor.
