Cutler To Play Scrooge In Guthrie Christmas Carol

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Guthrie Theater says veteran Guthrie actor J.C. Cutler will play Ebenezer Scrooge in this year's production of "A Christmas Carol."

Cutler says he's never before played the old miser Scrooge in his career, although he has twice before played young Scrooge at the Guthrie.

Since 1993, Cutler has appeared in 30 productions at the Guthrie -- including five productions of "A Christmas Carol."

Guthrie artistic director Joe Dowling will again direct this year's production of the Charles Dickens' holiday classic. British playwright Crispin Whittell wrote the script.

"A Christmas Carol" is now in his 37th year at the Guthrie. Previews begin Nov. 19, with the show opening Nov. 26 and running through Dec. 30.
