WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential contender Michele Bachmann is criticizing President Barack Obama’s plan to create jobs. She says Obama’s approach amounts to more “failed gimmicks.”

The Minnesota congresswoman says the plan Obama outlined Thursday night to Congress would further hurt the struggling U.S. economy. A tea party favorite, Bachmann says that even if Congress passes Obama’s jobs plan, it will fail.

She says Obama is “politically paralyzed” and “philosophically incapable of doing what needs to be done.”

Obama proposed a $447 billion jobs package that includes a payroll tax cut for all workers, a payroll tax cuts for most business, and spending for construction projects.

Bachmann did not attend the president’s speech and says she listened on the radio because her flight to Washington was delayed.

There comes a time when this ‘harpy’ needs to put forth a REAL alternative plan or just pack her tent and go home. To date she has said nothing to add to constructive conversation. Michelle, your grandchildren need you at home. The US House of Rep and the American public do NOT!

    1. jimmy says:

Tom…. You don’t understand she will do everything she can to make America fail.

    2. GN says:

The plan will fail the same as it failed before. The majority of Obama’s plan is to funnel the money to union controlled industries the same as before at the behest of Jimmy Hoffa Junior. For those that are unaware, the unions have had total control over the construction trades of the United States since 1931. It is called the Davis-Bacon Act. They set the wage and benefit scales and an army of government employees administer the Act through a mountain of paper work for every county in the United States.
Keep in mind that less than 7% of the private sector is unionized. The first stimulus went to the automotive industry, all unionized. I believe we have to throw money at the construction trades but not until the Davis-Bacon act is repealed. With repeal we would get twice the infrastructure at half the cost employing twice the number of people. If you really want to see us get back on track, start reading the laws that killed us and start screaming to repeal thousands of stupid, special interest group laws that tie our hands from going forward. Start reading and stop listening to the boob tube.

      1. Vote Union YES! says:

If Bauchmann were to have her way we would return to the dark ages when unions were created.

        1. GN says:

I could care less about Bauchmann, I’m interested in getting people back to work with an income. Funneling money to a concentrated group is not going to get it done. It need to be spread across all sectors.

      2. jimmy says:

GN has shown his lack of knowledge of both unions and the law.

First Jimmy Hoffa Jr. Has nothing to do with construction. He is president of the Teamsters and the Teamsters only.

Second The Unions do not control construction in the United States. AS a matter of fact the largest contractor in the United States is Brown and Root which is non union.

Third GN has no clue what the Bacon Davis act is. The Bacon Davis Act was written by 2 Republicans and signed into law by a Republican President. It was the Federalization of laws that had already been passed by 41 states. All it does is require a contractor to pay the prevailing wage of the local area.
Perhaps people remember G. W. Bush suspended the BDA in the rebuilding after Katrina. What happened was contractors started busing in illegals from Mexico shutting out the local workforce. What was this high prevailing wage that Bush was trying to get rid of, 9 dollars an hour.

        1. GN says:

Sorry hot dog, you apparently did not read little Jimmys last call for more infracture spending for union members which has the trickle down effect for other unions.

          1. jimmy says:

No I didn’t hear him say that and neither did you. Maybe you should quit getting your information from drug addicts on the radio.

      3. markH says:

GN- Your conspiracy theories are amusing-is it your own or did you swipe it from Glenn Beck? There is nothing like unbridled credulity to make me laugh. Peace.

    3. Tom says:

Jimmy, I am really afraid this woman has just not got a clue. She never has had a clue. And it is she and not I that has no idea how dangerous some of her rhetoric really is………….and she sits on the Select Intelligence Committee??? OMG

  2. dano says:

Hey Bachman, your 15 minutes are up

    1. idtapit says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. She can have my mushroom stamp, but not my vote!

      1. idknockthebottomoutofit says:

I agree, I’d “tap it” too!….but never give her my vote!

  3. Enough already says:

Why wasn’t she at work? Oh sorry. She is never at work. She’s out campaigning. If voters have any sense, after the next election, regardless of what office she’s running for, she’ll become one of the 9% unemployed.

  4. THE TRUTH says:

    What a nut job.

    1. Redneck Purist says:

Yeah, what a nut job. More spending ($450 billion worth) by the federal government has to work, right? Just like the stimulus, and cash for clunkers, and all his other brilliant ideas, worked so great. And here we are, worse than when he took over, and people don’t ever call Obama nuts. Is this your idea of smart????

      1. Logical Realist says:

Ummm, the stimulus was part of BUSH’s financial plan, not Obama’s. Also, Cash for Clunkers DID work. It revitalized large parts of the auto industry. Where have you been that you didn’t know that?

        1. Redneck Purist says:

Bush had a $60 billion dollar stimulus that also didn’t work. OBAMA’S was $800 billion, more than ten times the size, and it worked that much worse. News flash, Bush was no fiscal conservative. Cash for clunkers took thousands a decent used cars, and good parts for used cars out of the private economy and destroyed them. Real smart. Just brilliant. It also only served those who could afford to buy a new car in the first place. It was a dismal failure. You’re right about one thing though: It did revitalize large parts of the auto industry. His union donors in particular. Do you really want more of this? Thou fool.

          1. Mike says:

We certainly don’t want to go back to what got us in this mess in the first place and that is the result of Republican policy.

  5. idosmoke says:

she’s an idiot and an embarrassment to Minnesota\

  6. Jeff Landers says:

Typical BS from the clueless Michele Bachmann. She really needs to go away forever. As a Minnesotan, I’m totally embarrassed she calls our state home. She’d be better off on her own whack-job island. Just her and her closet case husband, Marcus.

She’s a broken record with NOTHING to offer. She does a great job complaining about Obama, but has yet to offer any solutions or ideas. Oh, and her “I’m bringing $2 gas prices back if I become president” is a huge joke. Does this woman actually think anyone of us believe that is even possible.

    Bye Michele.

    1. Matt Brown says:

She can promise anything, because it’s all in god’s hands. ; )

  7. IanTowne says:

Michelle Bachmann’s plane was late! Yea right! She knew about this speech for weeks but I guess it was more important to her to be on the campaign trail then to do the job she was elected to do. This is a fine quality for a possible future leader. With this country in trouble she would better serve the people of this country by doing the job she was elected to do, I am a Minnesotan which she is elected to represent but I guess we also mean less to her than her run for future office. It is time she get back to the job she is paid for!

  8. Thomas says:

So, I guess she is saying that all of the Republican-backed ideas that were presented are ‘failed gimmicks’, too.
And it was too bad her plane was late…she was probably stumping in Iowa trying to get her approval number to 9%.
Finally, if she were really serious about cutting spending, she could stop spending her money on what is turning into ‘Pawlenty2’.

  9. Paul Solinger says:

Now you know why Republicans have never, and will never, select her be their spokesperson.

  10. Bachtrash says:

God help her as she is the biggest = ditiest – slimiest – scuzziest – most worthless POS I have ever seen in any office. And this includes Slimy Willy Clinton who I could not stand.
She symbolizes the word SKANK. TRASH. WASTE
I have never hated a human more than what she has become and damn me til I die but I actually voted for her. ONCE. ONCE.

    1. Incredibly concerned & involved citizen says:

      She’s pretty hot dude.

      1. Dave's Not Here says:

        NO. She is NOT. Yuck.

Hand over your man card. It is of no use to you.

  11. Pavel says:

She needs to be “retired” from the public trough (to use a Republican term)!

  12. Darrell says:

What the hell is her problem?

  13. Xy says:

    She could out think Pelosi.

    Sad but true!!!

  14. Rayman says:

Haters.. I have no idea why you are that against her. You think Obumma’s “promises” are good? She spoke out…who else did? Giver her a chance.

  15. Keith says:

I cannot believe the vile comments I am reading here about Michele Bachamnn. Talk about Minnesota nice! I have followed her career with great interest for sometime, She is an excellent Republican, conservative and a defender of the constitution. To the folks with the nasty comments, I am SO glad I moved away from such a mean-spirited ingnorant infestation of liberals, I’m sorry I was born there. Thank God I came to my senses and moved where it rarely ever snows, never goes below zero and people are nice. Where’s that? Shhhhs, it’s a secret.

    1. TL says:

And MN is better since you left and Im sure where ever you are at, the state or country is better because of your residency.

I’ll say this…your lack of loyalty matches your buddy’s.

  16. Hagatha says:

Will some body PLEEEASE shut this nut job up, I think maybe she needs to sign herself into her hubbys clinic and grt the cure…

  17. frozenrrunner says:

A Republican comes out against a tax cut.. Nobody else sese the irony of it? To pay for it something will have to be cut because of the debt ceiling compromise. Theee leftists should be the ones screaming this is a bad plan rather not Bachman.

  18. kevin says:

Print more money, get the loan from China and watch your gas priceses go over $4.00 a gallon and all of your daily needed things, food clothing etc. costs go thru the roof. Quit spending money we do not have and start paying down our national dept. Gas may not get to $2.00 a gallon but it will be cheaper if we put our finacial house back in order.

  19. LadyJane says:

i read a comment from a classmate of her’s at Winona where she was either elected or ran for Student Council. The comment (as best I remember) was “She was an airhead ditzy burnett with a great butt that we ran to get the Jesus freak vote”. Nothing has changed, good description of her now also,

  20. StraycatStrut says:

Obama is a waste of time and energy. Yet another elaborate sound bite last nite with really…… nothing said. America needs to wake up and look at this clown’s record of incompetency. Bachmann is on the right course in her comments.
Are we now done with “HOPE and CHANGE we can believe in”…. or “Tranpsarency”. Get real America… and at least get a new job in the White House after the elections.

  21. keith kevin stupidcat says:

make sure all the cash is inside the corporate America coiffers so they hire.
Oh wait – they already have it all. I forgot.
Like the WSJ and CNN have said many times recently – the government can assist in recovery but it’s now on the backs of the wealthy horders, the worst offenders being the Big Corps. – but you brain-washed GOP TP’ers can’t read so it’s beyond you I guess

    1. Reasonable says:

Amazing that we can have the DOW regularly closing at 85-95% of it’s highest ever close yet still not find the ability to hire Americans isn’t it?

Face it, if you’re making less than $250,000 per year, you’re getting left behind and no one cares. If you don’t have enough money leftover from your paycheck after your bills to invest in anything, you’re done for. We’re becoming a caste system and the only way out is the lottery or death. You will never advance because the creation of generational wealth is a thing of the past. If you don’t have it now, you never will. Sorry.

  22. KEVIN says:

Obama and Berneke speak and the stock market drops over 300 points in two days.I wish they would just shutup!

    1. StraycatStrut says:

On BO would be “Shut & Just go away”……. would be better for this Country hands down. BO is now the problem, 80% of the country think he’s a joke and its embarasing to be in front of the World with this clown at the helm. He plays so much to the 20% liberal base who just happen to live in MN and are commenting on this journal.
