Alcohol Sales Could Start Sooner Under Wis. Bills
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Just days after one of the biggest Wisconsin sports weekends in years, the state Legislature is looking to make it easier for sports fans to buy booze for their tailgate parties.
Current law doesn't allow beer and alcohol sales at grocery and liquor stores to begin until 8 a.m.
The bill approved by a Senate committee Tuesday would move that back to 6 a.m. The bill has already cleared a state Assembly committee.
It pertains only to those stores that hold licenses allowing for off-premises consumption.
The proposal does not change the required ending time for liquor sales of 9 p.m. and beer sales of midnight.
