2 Hospitalized After Apartment Fire In South Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people were hospitalized Friday after a fire at a south Minneapolis apartment complex, authorities said.

Fire crews were dispatched to a report of an apartment fire at about 10:17 a.m. on the 5700 block of Sander Drive. When authorities arrived, smoke was showing from a three-story apartment building. Crews found a small fire in a storage room next to the laundry room at the complex.

Fire crews were able to put the fire out without it spreading to other parts of the building. Two people were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross has also been called in to assist about a dozen people.

No firefighters were injured while fighting the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
