Minnesota Beats Minn. Duluth 5-4

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota sophomore Nate Condon picked up where he left off, scoring two goals to lead Minnesota to a 5-4 win over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and a sweep of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Nick Bjugstad added a goal and two assists for the Golden Gophers (4-0-0, 2-0-0), who won Friday's opener against the defending national champions by the same 5-4 score. Condon had the game-winning goal in overtime in that game.

Minnesota's special teams played a key role Saturday. The Gophers were 3-for-3 on the power play and held the Bulldogs (1-3-0, 0-2-0) to just one goal in six attempts.

Minnesota Duluth went up 2-0 on goals by Travis Oleksuk and Jack Connolly. But the Gophers tied it by the end of the first period, as Jake Hansen and Condon got the rally started.

Bjugstad, Condon and Kyle Rau goals to give Minnesota a 5-2 lead midway through the third period.

Kenny Reiter made just 11 saves for Minnesota Duluth, which outshot the Gophers 50-16. Kent Patterson had 46 saves for Minnesota.

JT Brown had a goal and an assist for Minnesota Duluth.
