MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Authorities have identified the body of a 56-year-old man found in Renville County over the weekend.

Police said a farmer harvesting corn in a field northeast of Hector, Minn., Saturday afternoon found the body of Robert J. Verdon, of Cosmos, Minn.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy of Verdon’s body, but the official cause of death is till pending.

Police said Verdon’s family filed a missing person’s report in early September after police found and recovered Verdon’s car near the field where his body found was ultimately found.

Police are continuing to investigate Verdon’s death.

    Unless one uses dogs it’s awful easy to not find something in a cornfield when it’s still standing.
    Maybe ya not using your hand and mind enough Jack ….. just sayin’

      I’m just saying the car was right there so why didn’t people look around the area a little better? That would go for the people who reported him missing as well.
      I just hear of a story were some family memebers found treir father after he & his car were down in a reviene for a week.

        Yep – that was in CA and they found another body down in that ravine while pulling out #1
        I’ve been on a S&R a few times and without a dog nothing is a given. A field and fertilized with manure – even a dog can get a bit messed up. A good dog will likely find the person but a young or real od one may not.
