MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — Moorhead police have issued nearly 60 citations stemming from a large house party where underage drinking allegedly occurred.

Police say they responded Saturday about 12:30 a.m. to a home to disperse “a large, loud gathering.” They say as the first officers arrived, about 40 partygoers bolted through doors and windows and sprinted across neighbors’ yards.

Officers detained about 60 people and issued citations. They say 52 people were cited for consuming alcohol as minors, two for fleeing an officer on foot and one for providing a false name.

Three residents of the home were also cited for violating the city’s social-host ordinance. They are three men, ages 23, 21 and 20.

leave the college kids alone, they don’t have the money to pay for your new squad cars. There are over 30,000 college kids up in Fargo-Moorhead from three universities/colleges. The cops could do this type of bust ten times every weekend if they tried hard enough.

Yeah leave the drinking college kids alone. God forbid they wait until they’re 21 to drink, which is like 2 or 3 years away. God thats such a long time. If they dont have the money to pay the fines then they should probably actually do some studying up there instead of attending a large attention seeking parties. Stupid cops, how dare they do their jobs. The nerve

Yeah leave the college kids alone. Go after the 2 individuals that provided alcohol to minors! Nail them to the wall.

Thankfully noone was involved in an accident while drunk, etc. or this could have been a much more serious situation and sad article.

Hoping the 2 get penalized BIG TIME by the law, for their immature and ignorant choices of providing alcohol to these underage kids. The ramification of their choices could have cost someone their life…think next time young people!

Thanks to the police for doing your jobs well!

They dont provide alcohol. Thats spendy. I was at that house and everyone brings their own. Can’t do much more than give out minors to the ones under 21 and give the owners a social host which is expensive enough as it is. Sucks for them though, they are all just stupid about it and let too many people in their house. And telling people to wait til they are 21 is pointless, no one will listen. Its the norm in college and its never going to be overturned. Kind of like when Obama says he is pulling out all the troops. Too bad my buddy is getting deployed in March. Damn democrats.

if the cops have the resources to do this, they have way too much time and money on their hands and need to have their funding cut. Why is police funding always such a sacred cow?
