Hennepin Co. Library's 'Most-Read In 2011' List
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- If you're a parent in need of some holiday gift ideas, the Hennepin County Library just released its list of the most read books of 2011.
When it comes to kids, they like four authors the best. All the books on the Top 25 were from Daisy Meadows, Mary Pope Osborne, J.K. Rowling and Jeff Kinney.
Here is the entire list of 25 titles:

03. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
04. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Greg Heffley's Journal by Jeff Kinney
05. The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
06. Eve of the Emperor Penguin by Mary Pope Osborne
07. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling
08. The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney
09. The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney

As it turns out, teens prefer science fiction or futuristic fiction. Number one on that list was "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. It's a sci-fi book for teens which is now being adapted into a movie. That was followed by "The Book Thief" and "Mockingjay."
The number one book for adults is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. Former Minnesotan John Sandford is number two with "Buried Prey." Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is number three, and Jonathon Franzen's "Freedom" is number four.
