Hunter Injured After Fall From Deer Stand

ST. AUGUSTA, Minn. (WCCO) -- A St. Augusta, Minn. man was injured after falling from his tree stand while trying to shoot at a deer.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, 50-year-old Daniel Joseph Nelson was hunting on his property in St. Augusta around 8:15 Thursday morning.

Nelson was about 12 feet above the ground on a wood tree stand when he lost his balance after shooting at a deer.

Authorities said a portion of the tree was rotted and it gave way, causing Nelson to lose his balance and fall.

Nelson was transported to St. Cloud Hospital where he is listed in fair condition.
