Minneapolis Man, 21, Charged In Brutal Assault

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old Minneapolis man has been charged in a brutal assault that left a 49-year-old man unconscious on an apartment stairway, according to police.

Augustus Paul Bordeaux was charged with first-degree assault in connection to the Nov. 7, 2011 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, police were dispatched to the assault reported at 2434 Ogema Place in Minneapolis. When they arrived, they found the victim, who was unconscious with severe facial injuries, lying on the stairs that led up to the second floor of the apartment complex.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where it was determined that he suffered severe facial fractures, rib fractures, lung contusions, bleeding on the brain and possible neck fractures.

Police later returned to the scene and viewed surveillance video, which showed Bordeaux kicking and stomping the victim multiple times, the complaint said. Police said Bordeaux would rest between "stomp cycles" and kicked or stomped the victim a total of approximately 60 times.

Bordeaux was arrested on the same day and taken to the Minneapolis Police Department. There, police said he admitted to kicking the victim.

The criminal complaint does not state what lead to the assault.

If convicted, Bordeaux could face up to 20 years in prison and/or a $30,000 fine.
