Vikings Donate $440K To Kids' Medical Programs

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Vikings are donating $440,000 to medical programs aimed at helping children in Minnesota.

The team announced on Wednesday that $200,000 is going to the University of Minnesota's Amplatz Children's Hospital as part of the "adopt a room" program.

The endowed gift will furnish a patient's room with up-to-date technology and amenities.

The team is also sending $240,000 from the Vikings Children's Fund to the university's department of pediatrics. That money will be used for research to treat and cure childhood diseases and address childhood obesity.

Coach Leslie Frazier says the donations are geared toward helping Minnesota families who are facing a difficult time and showing the organization's commitment to children's health.
