Target Employee To Deliver Petitions About Black Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- On Monday, a Target employee will hand deliver a petition demanding the company push back its Black Friday shopping start time.

For the first time, Target says it'll open its doors at midnight on Black Friday instead of 5 a.m. that morning.

The organizers of the petition say over 175,000 people have signed-on to their cause. They say it's unfair to ask workers to leave their family Thanksgiving celebrations to arrive at work by 11 p.m.

A previous statement from Target said it's a competitive shopping day and guests said they'd prefer the earlier shopping hours.

Numerous nationwide retailers, including Toy R Us, Macy's, Best Buy and Walmart also plan to open at midnight.
