MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The holidays are about eating, spending time with family and being thankful for what you have in life.

Some aren’t so lucky, but those who are can help others out by getting rid of their own stuff. Do you have old furniture or clothes you’re looking to get rid of? Instead of throwing your stuff away, donate it to charity. A place like Good Donor can make sure it ends up being useful for somebody in need.

There are better places to go through than Good Donor. Good Donor collects for many other agencies in the area, which is an excellent idea. However, they don’t bother to tell you the rules of the place they’re collecting for. So you could set up a pickup for an old chair, only to have them call you after you’ve brought the chair down to the curb that the organization they’re picking up for doesn’t take furniture.

Better to go directly through Disabled Vets or Lupus (who both do their own pickups, as well) or to bring your stuff to Goodwill or some such place.
