The Good Life For Less: 'Dead Week' Deals

The week after Thanksgiving is lovingly known as "dead week" amongst travel experts. This is because many people -- getting off a long weekend of travel -- decide to mostly stay at home. Even businesses limit travel coming off of the long holiday.

This was especially clear to me this morning with the disappearance of the normally long line of taxis sitting outside the hotel I drive past on my way in to work.  It may be bad news for the tourist industry, but it is good news to anyone looking to save money on a vacation.

Some travel experts are even saying that this year's "dead week" may span a week longer and into December. So, if you want to plan a pre-holiday trip or get a jump on some spring travel planning, check out some of the standout "dead week" deals below.

• Coupon site Yuupon is promoting travel deals every three hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Cyber Monday (11/28). Click here for the specific schedule of trip deals.

Carnival Cruise Lines are dropping prices so low -- you may need to cruise on over to the site to find a trip yourself. Some cruises were found for as low as $66 a day (which includes food, activities, and lodging).

• Check sites like Orbitz and Travelocity for 50 percent off your hotel or vacation package (11/28). Use coupon code CYBERMONDAY on Travelocity and get an extra 10 percent off on top of that!
