TOWN OF TREMPEALEAU, Wis. (WCCO/AP) — A Minneapolis man has been arrested in a fatal highway crash that authorities say killed his brother in Trempealeau County.

Sheriff’s officials said 19-year-old Dillon Pederson, also of Minneapolis, died shortly before 11 p.m. Monday when the vehicle in which he was a passenger left Highway 93, struck a driveway and became airborne before crashing into a field in the Town of Trempealeau.

James Pederson, 30, was arrested after investigators suspected he may have been driving while intoxicated.

James Peterson is currently being held in custody.

The accident is still under investigation by the county sheriff’s department.

The answer to this is require mandatory road tests for all drivers over a certain age. This may not be a popular mandate, but it is necessary to protect innocent motorists (analogous to cell phone and texting bans while driving) from harm. Also, WCCO should stop censoring comments simply because they thing others may be offended or uncomfortable; such activities degrade free speech and a free and open media. Peace.
