Babysitter Gets 24 Years For Assaulting Girls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for sexually assaulting two young girls while he was babysitting them.

According to the Cass County Attorney, Arthur Austin-Ellis Evans, of Hackensack, was sentenced to 12 years for each count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and ordered to serve those sentences consecutively.

According to officials, Evans sexually assaulted a 13-year-old after injecting her with sleeping drugs he stole from his employer. Evans is also accused of sexually assaulting a 1-year-old toddler and videotaping the sexual assault.

He pleaded guilty to the two offenses on Oct. 17.

Evans will receive credit for the 306 days he has been in custody.

In addition to serving his prison term, Evans is also subject to a lifetime conditional release and is required to register as a predatory offender for the rest of his life.
