Mankato News Anchor Arrested For DWI

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) -- A news anchor for KEYC-TV in Mankato was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, weeks after a video showing her slurring through a newscast went viral.

According to a Sheriff's Department spokesperson, Annie Stensrud was arrested in the city of North Mankato just before noon on Wednesday for probable cause DWI.

A witness called 911 to report the driver, and the call was transferred to Nicollet County dispatch. Nicollet County then sent one of their officers to pull her over.

Stensrud was booked and released. Toxicology tests are still pending.

Earlier this month, a video showing Stensrud struggling to get through a newscast caught national attention. Station general manager Dennis Walhstrom talked with WCCO Radio about the incident, claiming Stensrud had "been sick." He said she was taking medication and missing a lot of work, but wanted to get back on air. Walhstrom said, on the day in question, she was not drunk, but had a bad reaction to the medication.

KEYC-TV is an CBS affiliate.
