Driver Charged In Passenger's Death In April Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide for allegedly causing a crash last April that killed his passenger.

Twenty-two-year-old Dejon Culberson was charged earlier this month, but the complaint was not made public until he could be arrested.

According to the complaint, Culberson was driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph when he struck something, lost control and rolled near Highway 100 and the 57th Avenue Bridge.

Taylor Horan, 22, was ejected from the vehicle and died later that day. Police found another injured person leaning against a telephone pole at the scene of the wreck.

Police say Culberson fled the scene. The criminal complaint says he ran to his aunt's house and was taken to North Memorial Hospital.

The complaint says tests revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.186.

Culberson will appear in court again next month.
