Miss The Snow? Get Ready For Some Flurries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Yes, those of you who have been begging for a white winter will get a little dosage Thursday night and into Friday morning.

But don't get too excited -- it won't be much more than a coating.

The showers are expected tonight around 8 p.m., initially a light mix of rain and snow in the metro area. Overnight that will turn into light snow.

Meteorologist Mike Augustyniak said a fast-moving storm will be moving through Thursday night, bringing a couple inches at most.

The Twin Cities can expect a coating to an inch of snow, while cities to the south won't see even that much. Up north, however, in cities like Brainerd or Bemidji, folks could see 2 or up to 3 inches total.

Friday's forecast will warm up a bit, with highs in the upper 30s and plenty of sunshine, so that snow may not stick around long.

New Year's Eve looks to be even warmer with a high near 42 and even 50 in some parts of the state.
