Dog Slated For Westminster Found, Reunited With Owner

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- The search for a missing dog in Bloomington, a Bernese Mountain dog that was slated to compete at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show next month, has been called off.

The dog, named Delsin, was found and will be returned to its owner. Delsin ran away from a home on Beard Avenue South in Bloomington after a young child accidentally left the gate open.

The 9-year-old dog Delsin ran away from home at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Delsin is not microchipped, and was not wearing a collar when he went missing.

Someone found the dog and brought it to animal control. The dog was be returned to its owner Wednesday afternoon.

Anne Nichols, Delsin's owner and trainer, couldn't have been happier to reunite with her dog.

"He's my best friend. He sleeps in my bed at night. We're rarely separated," Nichols said. "To know that I have more time with him is what we all want with those that we love.  And I am lucky and I am blessed that I have more time."

Delsin is worth about $16,000. Nichols said Delsin enjoys going to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show competition.

"He enjoys the spotlight, he likes the show ring, he likes the people. and the crowds," Nichols said.
