MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Ricky Rubio is starting to make a marketing name with the Minnesota Timberwolves, and could Trevor Mbakwe play for the Gophers again? It's all here in this week's news and notes.

Ricky Rubio has already landed his first endorsement with the Minnesota Timberwolves: It's with a local health club.

One person who has not been in on the excitement at the Target Center: Timberwolves Owner Glen Taylor. He has not seen a game because of a prior commitment for a family vacation in Florida.

University of Minnesota men's basketball player Trevor Mbake, who is going through rehabilitation following surgery on a torn ACL, is contnuting to go to class because if he doesn't recover to apply for the NBA Draft, he could file for a medical redshirt and try to get one more year with the Gophers.

The Gophers will definitely redshirt the injured Maurice Walker, who is also recovering from offseason knee surgery.

Former Gopher Dan Coleman finally found a job overseas, signing with a professional basketball team in France.

Sam Houston State, who North Dakota State University plays Saturday in the FCS National Championship, has a familiar name at offensive coordinator. It's former gopher coach Bob DeBesse, who was here under Jim Wacker. DeBesse will leave to coach at New Mexico after Saturday's game.
