Semi Slips Off I-494 Into West Metro Pond, No Injuries

PLYMOUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – It's been a bad week for semi-trucks on Minnesota highways.

For the third time in seven days, a semi went off the road and slid into a body of water Friday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The accident happened near Interstate 494 and Rockford Road in Plymouth.

Lt. Eric Roeske with the Minnesota State Patrol said the truck went through a fence before it ended up on top of a frozen pond. Roeske said the truck did not go through the ice and the driver was not hurt.

Last Friday, a Target semi-truck went off the road on Interstate 94 and went into a pond near Monticello. Crews spent most of the day getting the truck out of the water.

On Wednesday, a Kohl semi-truck went off an icy highway in Waseca, a small southern Minnesota town, and wound up on a lake there.
