MN Man Killed In Wis. Snowmobile Accident
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 28-year-old man from St. Charles was killed Friday afternoon in a snowmobile accident in Buffalo County, Wis., authorities said.
The Buffalo County Sheriff's Offce said speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash that killed Joseph S. Gillett. The accident happened at about 3:20 p.m. Friday in Milton Township, which is just north and east of Winona across the Wisconsin border.
When authorities arrived to the scene, they found Gillett had been ejected from his snowmobile after striking a cable strung between two fence posts on private property. He was unresponsive at the scene, and authorities transported him to Winona Community Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
