ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton will deliver his second State of the State address on the evening of Feb. 15 in the Minnesota House chamber.

Recent practice by governors, including Dayton himself last year, has been to hold the annual speech during the daytime. Dayton’s speech is scheduled for 7 p.m. on a Wednesday.

Governors are only required to deliver a State of the State speech once every two years, but most have made a practice of delivering one every year.

The address is typically delivered in the House chamber, although former Gov. Tim Pawlenty traveled to Rochester in 2005 and St. Cloud in 2008 for the speech.

HEY mARK, LETS KICK IT OFF BY TELLING US TAXPAYERS HOW YOU’RE GONNA TRIM THE FAT IN GOVERNMENT. We all know the redundencies we have in government. Do the right thing and start trimming the fat. We all do it in our households cuz it’s just a no-brainer. DO IT!!!

  2. Some Joe says:

Mark Dayton delivering the State of the State address is like letting a blind person drive on a freeway.

  3. Bubba says:

He’s the check to the lack of balance in the legislature. I shudder to think how many referendums and other intrusive legislation we’d have if Emmer were Gov.

  4. Murph says:

Would you trade him for the sleepless, pooping in his pants GOP Governor of Wisconsin? The one with a half dozen or more former underlings getting immunity to put him in the can for a LONG , really l ..o..n..g time!Be careful for what you wish and vote for!

  5. Ruth says:

A State of the State Address is as bad as a State of the Union Address – not worth anyone’s time or attention because both are just rhetoric and lies.

  6. what ever says:

Ok here is what he is going to say in a short form. He is going to say blah blah blah tough times in Minnesota blah blah need jobs blah blah blah tax the wealthy blah blah blah pour more money in failing schools blah blah blah green energy blah blah blah welfare/unemployment benefits.

So what he basically means is redistribution of wealth with scare tactics, but I think only 2 people in the state will actually be watching the address.
